Tony Cottee

A prolific goalscorer, Tony shone particularly during his time at West Ham, where he was named PFA Young Player of the Year in 1986. His success prompted Everton to break the British transfer record in 1988, signing him from West Ham for £2.2 million.

Tony made an electrifying start at Goodison Park, scoring a hat-trick on his debut and netting his first goal within minutes of kick-off. While at Everton, he formed dynamic striking partnerships with players like Graeme Sharp and Peter Beardsley, though none matched the iconic duo of Cottee and Frank McAvennie at Upton Park. Their partnership was one of the most feared in English football during the late 1980s.

In 1994, Tony returned to West Ham, later moving to Selangor in Malaysia in 1996, where he won both the Malaysian FA Cup and Malaysia Cup. After a brief stint, he came back to England in 1997 to join Leicester City, where he added the League Cup to his accolades.

In 2000, Tony took up a player-coach role at Norwich City but soon transitioned to player-manager at Barnet. After an initial success, Barnet faced a challenging season, and Tony resigned in 2001. Remarkably, during that season, he became one of the few players to feature for clubs in all four divisions of English football within a single campaign.

Throughout his career, Tony earned seven England caps, played in the 1989 FA Cup Final for Everton, and capped his playing days with silverware at Leicester City.
