At Millwall, his boyhood club, Tony formed a lethal partnership with Teddy Sheringham. Together, they scored an impressive 99 goals over three seasons, cementing their place in the club’s history. His talents saw him become Aston Villa’s record signing at the time, joining for £1.1 million. At Chelsea, he featured in the 1994 FA Cup Final, though the team ultimately finished runners-up.

International Career with the Republic of Ireland
Representing the Republic of Ireland from 1985 to 1999, Tony earned 88 caps and scored 19 goals, briefly holding the record as Ireland’s most capped player. He played a pivotal role in Ireland’s campaigns during the 1988 European Championships and the World Cups of 1990 and 1994, establishing himself as a key figure in Irish football history.

Tony’s final international appearance came in 1999 against Turkey in a tense UEFA Euro 2000 qualifier. His departure from the pitch, bruised and battered after a brawl with a Turkish defender, symbolised the warrior-like spirit that characterised his 14-year international career.

Life After Football
Since retiring in 2000, Tony has built a successful media career. He has worked as a presenter and pundit for TalkSport Radio and contributed articles to The Times and Ireland’s Hot Press magazine. He has also appeared on Sky Sports in England and both TV3 and Today FM in Ireland, sharing his insights and experiences with fans.

In 2000, Tony released his autobiography, Full Time: The Secret Life of Tony Cascarino, which received critical acclaim for its honesty and depth, further solidifying his status as a respected voice in the footballing world.
