Mervyn Hughes
One of Australian cricket's great characters and a crowd favourite.
Merv Hughes, a right-arm fast bowler, represented Australia between 1985 and 1994, playing in 53 Test matches and taking 212 wickets. He also featured in 33 One-Day Internationals, claiming 38 wickets. In the 1988-89 Test series against the West Indies at the WACA, Merv achieved a remarkable hat-trick and went on to take 8 wickets for 87 runs in the match.
