A notable moment in his career came in the 1992 FA Cup Semi-Final penalty shootout against Liverpool, while playing for Portsmouth, where he missed his spot-kickā€”an event still remembered by some fans.

On the international stage, John earned two England ‘B’ caps in 1994, featuring in matches against Northern Ireland ‘B’ and the Republic of Ireland ‘B’.

Today, John is a familiar face on television, working as a pundit for ITV Tyne Tees and ESPN. Off-screen, he has become a highly sought-after speaker on the after-dinner circuit, captivating audiences with his natural wit and entertaining stories from his playing days alongside football legends such as Alan Shearer, David Ginola, and Paul Gascoigne (Gazza).
