Dean retired from football in October 2009 at the age of 40 after a distinguished career spanning 20 years. During this time, he made over 700 appearances, scored more than 200 goals, and played for nine clubs.

He is perhaps best remembered for scoring the winning goal for Hull City in the Wembley Play-Off Final in 2008, securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history. Dean enjoyed three separate spells with Hull City and has been voted the fourth-best player of all time by Hull City fans. Additionally, he had two successful stints at Bradford City, playing a key role in helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League in 1999. He remains the club’s third-highest goal scorer of all time.

Beyond his playing career, Dean has made a significant impact in the media as a pundit and summariser for both Sky Sports and the BBC. He also serves as a match-day host for Hull City, bringing his wealth of footballing experience to fans on game days.
