Chris Sutton etched his name into British football history as the subject of the first £5 million transfer between two British clubs. This landmark move occurred in July 1994 when Sutton joined Kenny Dalglish’s ambitious Blackburn Rovers from Norwich City.

During his prime, Sutton’s striking abilities attracted interest from some of the top clubs in England and Europe. Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Rangers, and Inter Milan were all linked with the forward in the media.
Following Blackburn Rovers’ relegation, Sutton moved south to Chelsea, where he played for a season. He then crossed the border to Scotland to join Celtic, making over 100 appearances and scoring 63 goals during his time at the club.
After brief spells at Aston Villa and Birmingham City, Sutton retired from professional football in 2007. He later took up a managerial role, leading Lincoln City during the 2009-10 season.
