More about
Ronnie Irani
A long-term knee issue ultimately curtailed his bowling during the 2003 domestic season, despite specialist treatment in Germany. Ronnie then shifted his focus to batting, and in 2005, he took on the dual role of county captain and head coach after Graham Gooch stepped down. He excelled in both capacities, leading his team with distinction.
However, persistent knee problems led to his retirement midway through the 2007 season. Following his cricketing career, Ronnie transitioned into broadcasting, becoming a popular co-host on Talksport radio’s Alan Brazil Breakfast Show.
In addition, Ronnie is a highly sought-after figure on the after-dinner speaking circuit, entertaining audiences with his engaging stories and charismatic presence.
